YMCA: COVID-19 Relief Fund

Like the rest of the world, the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati is pivoting to do what’s best for the community at large during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Y has shifted fitness services to virtual options and opened facilities only to health care workers and first responders needing access to child care during this time. We will be able to provide much needed child care for 1,100 children across our region. This service is open to our first responders and health care workers to support them, while they care for the rest of us. Child care services are also available to essential personnel still reporting for work each day. This may include grocery workers, delivery drivers, food services and more. We understand the personal financial strain that will fall to these community care givers while schools are closed. We are committed to providing assistance to those needing access to child care.

The Y is also working outside its facilities to take care of the nearly 15,000 area seniors that usually spend their time at the Y. We are making wellness calls to senior members and connecting them with resources they may need during this time. The Y is also making “porch visits” when possible and safe, delivering shelf stable foods and toiletries to homebound seniors.

Pivoting services to meet the needs of the community is something the Y has done throughout its 175 year history. Right now the Y is offering meals and food access to children and seniors as well as families in close proximity to some Y facilities. Together with our partners we are working to ensure everyone has access to the food they need during this crisis.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Y relies on program sales, membership fees, and donations to operate. The shift in operations will have a significant impact on the Y’s overall budget as well as the ability to deliver mission-critical services to our community during this time. Join our cause today by supporting the YMCA: COVID-19 Relief Fund. Your gift will impact the lives of our neighbors needing the most support right now.
